THE GARDENS

Ballynatray Gardens are open to the public from the beginning of May, 2016 to 31st August 2016, between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 pm. Gardens are not open when the estate is booked privately. Access to the Gardens is via the pedestrian gate and parking is available at Templemichael car park near the main entrance. Inside the second gate, on the right hand side, is an honesty box – please leave 5 euro per adult visitor (4 euro concession) to help us maintain the garden and Estate. Thank you. The walk from Templemichael follows the main drive through Parkland and Reedbeds with spectacular views of the wooded Blackwater River, to the Pleasure Ground and Kitchen Garden, just over a mile from Templemichael.

The Kitchen Garden, designed by Patrick Bowe in 2000 is on the site of a small brew yard.
It is managed organically and provides fresh fruit, vegetables and cut-flowers to the house throughout the year.

The Fragrant Garden was designed by Richard Taylor of Talylor-Tripp Associates, Hampshire in 2008.
A ‘parterre de broderie’ has been planted in Box surrounded by an informal planting comprising of fragrant flowering plants.
